1. JOINT OPERATION

Since the CID was employed, 1 April 2009 seven Joint Operations were held in the Triangle Farm area. The CID would like to thank all the role players that were involved from the Traffic Services, Metro Police, SAPS, Railway SAPS and various sections of Specialized services i.e. Anti Land Invasion, Displaced Peoples Unit and Metal Theft that participated in making these operations successful and also their contribution in reducing the crime in the area. This also included members from different Security Companies.

The CID would also like to thank the five directors of the CID, Mr. Marius Claassen (Chairperson), Mr. Peter Bauer (Hose Manufacturers), Mr. Tony Meyer (Meyer & Ferreira), Mr. Chris Munro (Transtech) and Mr. Gert Stander (Clover) for sponsoring these operations.

2. PROJECTS

2.1. BOLLARDS:

2.1.1. Atomic Road:
The CID erected bollards in Atomic Road and sufficient parking was provided for vehicles. The CID is still in the process of leveling the ground.

2.1.2. Uranium Road:
Bollards were also erected in Uranium Road to prevent the vehicles from driving onto the public open space and also for the safety of the disabled people from Chris Steytler.

2.1.3. Reactor Road:
Bollards were erected in Reactor Road and five trees were planted.

2.2. EMERGENCY NUMBERS:

The CID has compiled a list of Emergency Numbers on a magnetic surface and distributed to each company in the Triangle Farm area. Please keep these numbers on hand next to your telephone in case of an emergency. The CID would like to thank the sponsors Mr. Marius Claassen (CID Chairperson) and Mr. Jan Claassen (Blind-it).

2.3. FIRE HYDRANTS:

After a huge fire at one of the premises in the Triangle Farm area on the 7 July 2010 and due to the fire hydrants that were faulty, the CID sent a request to Fire Services to check all fire hydrants throughout the area. The CID noticed there were a few streets with no fire hydrants and enquired
if the fire hydrants were sufficient in the area. The fire hydrants were all painted and checked. The CID would like to thank the Fire Services, Mr. Gavin Visser and Mr. Lourens Rothman for their prompt response.

2.4. CID BOARDS:

The CID has sent a request to the City Of Cape Town for permission to erect two knew CID boards, one at the entrance of Bridge Road and the other at the entrance of Electron Road. Once the approval has been received the CID will submit an application for way leave to install the two boards that will be sponsored.

2.5. ROOT PRUNING:

The CID set up a meeting and send a request to City Parks regarding the roots in Electron Road causing damage to the buildings. The CID obtained permission from the owners before City Parks can go ahead with the root pruning. City Parks will held a site meeting shortly.

2.6. METRORAIL FENCING:

Due to no funds available from Metrorail and the enormous problem the CID experiences with criminals crossing the railway line, breaking into business premises and running back over the railway line, and also the danger of our people crossing the line daily, the CID felt that it is necessary to erect a fence in Uranium Road. The CID submitted a request for permission from Metrorail to erect a fence on Metrorail’s property and was approved. The CID will begin with the first phase of 125m this week.
